Group Adolescent Training Classes in Bristol
The adolescent phase can feel like everything you worked on in puppyhood has vanished overnight. Suddenly your dog has selective hearing, boundless energy, and a mind of their own. You’re not imagining it, and you’re definitely not alone.
This course is designed to help you navigate this tricky but temporary stage by carefully managing difficult behaviours, and implementing practical training techniques. Together, we’ll bring calm, focus, and connection back into your relationship, giving your dog the support they need to grow into a confident, well-rounded adult.
As dogs enter adolescence, boundaries are tested and training can seem to take a step backwards.
The “New Boundaries” course offers help you navigate this tricky stage with patience and positive reinforcement, turning chaos into calm and helping your dog grow into a confident, well-mannered companion.
This comprehensive 4 week Training Programme encompasses the perfect balance of learning theory, practical in person training, study from home guides and ongoing support. It includes:
Adolescent Training Classes
-
In our first session, we will revisit key foundation skills, helping refresh behaviours that often slip during adolescence. We’ll discuss common challenges at this stage and the developmental reasons behind them. We’ll establish some short-term management strategies to make life easier while training continues, to prevent unwanted behaviours from becoming rehearsed.
-
This week we focus on supporting well-managed dog-dog interactions - reading early body-language signals, creating space before dogs feel overwhelmed, and rewarding calm behaviour around others. We’ll help our dogs build confidence, develop polite social habits, and prevent over-arousal or frustration taking over.
-
In week 3 we’ll continue to build healthy social bonds within the group. We also look at troubleshooting any challenges owners are experiencing and consider tailored strategies to support progress at home and in class.
-
By week four the group will be calm and comfortable enough around each other to step up the challenge and take things into a normal walk location where we can practice the skills with the support of your trainer and new found friends.
